FAQs

Everything you need to know about sharing photos, videos and voice messages from your day.

The basics

What is a digital wedding guestbook?

A digital wedding guestbook collects your guests' photos, videos, voice messages and written notes in one private online album. With The Event Register, guests scan a QR code at your wedding or open your share link, then add their memories straight from their phone. You can view everything during the day and download it all afterwards (one at a time on Free, or everything in one ZIP on a paid plan).

What's included in the Wedding plan?

Everything in Album, plus your own wedding website, RSVPs with meal choices, a guest list, a seating plan, invites and your order of the day, so your guests have one link for everything.

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Guests scan your QR code with their phone camera, or tap your share link, and your album opens in their web browser. There's nothing to install and no account to make, so even the least techy guests can join in.

How does a QR code wedding guestbook work?

When you sign up, you get a QR code and a share link for your event. Put the QR code on table cards, signs or your invitations. Guests scan it with their phone camera and upload photos and videos, or leave a message. Everything appears in your album, ready for you to look through and download.

What can guests add to our album?

It depends on your plan. On Album and Wedding, guests can upload unlimited photos and videos, write messages in your guestbook and record voice messages for your audio guestbook. On the Free plan, guests can upload up to 50 photos in total during a 24-hour window on your wedding day. Free doesn't include videos or guestbook messages.

What is an audio guestbook?

An audio guestbook lets guests leave you a recorded voice message instead of, or as well as, a written note. It's included in our Album and Wedding plans. Guests record their message on their own phone, so you hear the speeches, jokes and well wishes in their own voices, long after the day.

Is The Event Register only for weddings?

It's made for weddings, but the photo album and guestbook work for any celebration where you want to collect photos and messages from guests: engagement parties, hen and stag dos, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, christenings and more.

Pricing and plans

How much does it cost?

There are three plans. Free costs £0 and includes 50 photo uploads over 24 hours, kept for 7 days after uploads close. Album costs £39 and adds unlimited photos and videos, a written and audio guestbook, original quality download, uploads open until 1 month after your wedding and 1 year of storage. Wedding costs £59 and adds your wedding website, RSVPs and guest list, table plans, uploads open until 6 months after and 2 years of storage.

Is it a one-time payment or a subscription?

It's a one-time payment. There's no subscription and nothing renews automatically. You pay once for your plan and keep access for the full storage period: 1 year on Album and 2 years on Wedding. All prices are in pounds (GBP).

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan costs nothing and needs no card. It includes 50 guest photo uploads and your own QR code and share link. Guests can upload photos (not videos) for 24 hours on your wedding day, and your photos are kept for 7 days after that. Free doesn't include the written or audio guestbook. It's a good way to try it out, and you can upgrade any time.

Can I upgrade from the Free plan later?

Yes, you can upgrade any time, including after your guests have started uploading. Upgrade before your free album's 7 days are up so nothing is lost. If you're on Album and want Wedding, you only pay the difference.

What's the difference between the Album and Wedding plans?

Both include unlimited photos and videos, a written and audio guestbook, a QR code and share link, original quality ZIP download, and the ability to hide or remove uploads. Album (£39) takes uploads for 1 month and keeps your album for 1 year. Wedding (£59) adds your wedding website, RSVPs and guest list, and table plans, takes uploads for 6 months and keeps your album for 2 years.

On the day

How do guests share photos with us?

Guests scan your QR code with their phone camera, or tap your share link if you've sent it by text, email or WhatsApp. They can then upload photos and videos from their camera roll. Everything goes into your private album, so you're not chasing people for photos after the wedding.

Where should I put the QR code at my wedding?

Anywhere guests will see it and have a spare moment: table cards, the welcome sign, the bar, the dessert table or the photo booth. You can also add it to your invitations, order of service or wedding website.

Can guests upload photos before or after the wedding?

Yes, on the paid plans. Uploads open 14 days before your date, and stay open for 1 month afterwards on Album or 6 months on Wedding, so guests can add the photos they find on their phones in the days and weeks after. Share your link again in a thank-you message to remind them.

Can I remove photos I don't want in the album?

Yes. On Album and Wedding, you can hide or remove any upload from your album, so you stay in control of what's kept and what's seen.

Your photos and videos

Do I get full-quality photos and videos?

Yes. On Album and Wedding, you can download everything your guests have shared as an original quality ZIP file, ready to keep, back up, or send to your photo-book maker.

How long are our photos and videos stored?

Your album is kept for 1 year on Album, 2 years on Wedding and for 7 days after uploads close on Free. We recommend downloading your ZIP once the uploads have slowed down, so you have your own copy to keep for good.

Who can see our photos?

Your album is private to your event. Guests reach it through your QR code or share link, so only people you share it with can get to it. On Album and Wedding, you can also hide or remove any upload.

Compared with other options

Is a digital guestbook better than disposable cameras?

For most couples, yes. Disposable cameras cost money per table, need developing, and often come back half-used or blurry. With a digital guestbook, guests use the phone cameras they already have, you get photos and videos at full quality straight away, and nothing needs posting or printing unless you want it to.

Is a digital audio guestbook cheaper than renting a vintage phone?

Usually, yes. Vintage telephone guestbooks are typically rented for a few days and posted back, with one handset that guests queue for. Our Album plan (£39) includes an audio guestbook, so every guest can leave a message from their own phone, along with unlimited photo and video sharing.

Do we still need a wedding photographer?

Yes, we'd recommend one. Your photographer captures the posed and key moments professionally. A digital guestbook fills in everything else: the candid shots from every table, the dance floor at midnight, and the moments your photographer didn't see. Most couples use both.
